About Us

The National Competitiveness Council was established by Government in 1997. It reports to the Taoiseach on key competitiveness issues facing the Irish economy and offers recommendations on policy actions required to enhance Ireland’s competitive position.

The NCC was established by the Government in May 1997 as part of the Partnership 2000 Agreement.

Forfás, Ireland’s policy advisory board for enterprise, trade, science, technology and innovation, provides the Council with research and secretariat support.
