Marcus Hewson

During a career spanning 35 years at McDonald’s, he gained experience in all areas of the business, both locally and internationally. He is credited with playing a pivotal and leading role in the growth and subsequent success of the business in the UK, Belgium, Italy and Republic of Ireland. In 1993 he was appointed Senior Vice President worldwide, and a member of the UK Board.  He was Director of Marketing, and Director of Franchising. In 1995, he was appointed Chief Operations Officer for Northern Europe before being appointed Managing Director of McDonald’s in Italy. In 2001, Marcus returned home to Ireland, as Managing Director to the Irish company.

For the Irish market, he developed and introduced the highly successful Eurosaver menu.  This model has now been rolled out worldwide, and is considered to be a pivotal turning point in McDonald’s fortunes.
