This discussion paper was prepared by Goodbody Economic Consultantson behalf of the National Competitiveness Council but do not necessarily represent agreed Council views.

Consideration of the question of economic sustainability of development has, to date, focussed primarily on short term capacity constraints affecting the Irish economy at the present time, most notably skills shortages and transport bottlenecks. The National Competitiveness Council commissioned this paper to examine the sustainability of Ireland’s competitiveness and economic performance from a longer term and more structural perspective.
